About FAQs
WHAT IS NATIONAL ACCREDITATION? WHY SHOULD I CARE?
People have choices in choosing who they see for counseling services. Carefully researching and selecting your options are essential steps to finding the services you need and achieving the results you desire. CARF-accredited service providers have applied CARF's comprehensive set of standards for quality to their business and service delivery practices. This means that they have demonstrated conformance to proven standards for business practices and are committed to continuous quality improvement. Each provider’s commitment to excellence is periodically evaluated on site and reconfirmed annually.
WHY IS MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY IMPORTANT?
It will improve your quality of life. Mental health is extremely important to living a healthy and balanced life. It includes emotional, social, and psychological factors that affect how we think, act, and feel. Mental health also regulates how we make choices, how we relate to those around us, and how we handle stress. How we deal with the bulk of our emotions, both positive and negative, comes down to what state our mental health is in.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT?
If your use of alcohol or drugs is leading to at least 3 of the symptoms listed below, you may benefit from our Individual Counseling or our Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program. Our counselors can help you decide what level of care you need.
Giving up hobbies; insatiable cravings; health issues; significant portion of time spent using; repeated failed attempts to stop; using more over longer periods; increased tolerance; withdrawal symptoms upon cessation; neglecting responsibilities; interpersonal and social problems; endangering yourself and others, legal issues.
WHAT ARE NEGATIVE COPING BEHAVIORS?
Negative coping behaviors are behaviors we use to escape how we feel, and to cope with negative emotions that can ultimately lead to negative consequences. They can include overdrinking, overworking, overwatching Netflix, overeating, overexercising, over-shopping, overspending, too much time spent on social media, video games, sexting, pornography, gambling, involving ourselves in others’ problems, caretaking and more.
